Date: 28th February 2024
COMMENTS:
The Local Highway Authority (LHA) would not wish to raise any in principle objections to the proposal to increase the height of the existing boundary wall from the existing 1.60 -1.70 metres high, to 2.0 metres high. To also, extend the new boundary wall to 7.0 metres in length, along the existing boundary line with a height of 2.2 metres. As shown in the application details.
The extensive length of the side boundary wall is immediately adjacent to the footway in Barndale Crescent, Southway. Therefore, the works to increase the height, and in particular to extend the length of the wall, would also need excavations immediately adjacent to the public footway to form the new foundations for the wall. The close proximity of the works to the public footway, would have certain potential impacts and public safety considerations on the footway during the course of the construction, including regarding access across the public footway, and potential for damage. Therefore, the householder is advised to seek an Access to Site Permit/licence, under Section 171 of the Highways Act 1980. By contacting, Plymouth Highways - highways@plymouth.gov.uk:
SUMMARY:
The Local Highway Authority would not wish to raise any in principle objections to the proposal to increase both the height and length of the boundary wall, in accordance with the approved details. Due to the close proximity and potential impact on the adjacent public footway and grass verge, the householder should obtain an Access to Site Permit Section 171 prior to any work starting.
