The Housing Delivery Team (HDT) welcomes this minor amendment application in that this change will help to bring forward the second phase of this regeneration scheme in Barne Barton. We support this application and wish to make the following comments:
Housing Tenure swap
The Regeneration scheme is designed to create a more sustainable and mixed community in Barne Barton and to help address local housing need. The proposed amendments represent a swapping of affordable housing tenures (while maintaining the overall agreed tenure balance). This minor change will allow some of the first completed units to be delivered as rented dwellings and thereby enable the decanting of residents currently occupying dwellings within retained blocks in Phase 2 of the approved scheme.
The proposed minor amendment of tenure locations will facilitate the earliest possible decant of remaining residents and this will help to secure a commencement of the fully funded Phase 2 and the delivery of the overall scheme in a cohesive manner. The shared ownership units which are proposed to be swapped out from initial delivery as part of these proposals ' will be completed slightly later in phase 1, thereby maintaining the overall agreed tenure balance.
Conclusion
The amended proposal will provide modern fit-for-purpose homes to improve the quality of the housing stock in this part of the city to benefit existing and future residents. Clarion has taken a proactive approach to public consultation and given residents an opportunity to move into one of the new homes once complete, which is the primary purpose of this amendment.
