Highway Authority

This pre-application enquiry seeks advice on a proposed single storey kitchen extension and new car port at the above-mentioned property.

Very limited information has been provided as part of the application and therefore the Local Highway Authority (LHA) would make the following general comments:

The proposals will need to ensure that the existing level of off-street parking provision is retained to prevent any resultant overspill parking which would not be acceptable.

The proposed car port should be open on all sides. If it is enclosed in any way, then the internal dimensions should be large enough to accommodate a parked car (6.5m long and 3.5m wide).

Sufficient levels of inter-visibility will also need to be retained at the vehicle access to the property for reasons of highway safety.

The proposed development has been considered in accordance with the Councils current Development Plan Policies and having regard for the National Planning Policy Framework.
