Dear Simon

Highway Authority Consultation Response to a Planning Application

APPLICATION NO: 25/00746/FUL

SITE: SECTION OF PUBLIC HIGHWAY, SALTASH ROAD, PLYMOUTH

DEVELOPMENT: Temporary excavation of existing public highway (Saltash Road) to install new underground ducts beneath the highway.

Observations:

Although there are no in-principle objections to these works from a LHA viewpoint, it is not clear from the information provided who would be responsible for the 4 new chambers? Would they form part of the infrastructure adopted and maintained by a statutory undertaker or would they remain the responsibility of Babcock? It is also assumed that these 4 chambers in the public highway will have covers to them and therefore the details of such should be submitted to PCC for approval.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the applicant would have to apply for the appropriate notices/permissions for the undertaking of any works within the adopted highway.

Subject to the above-mentioned queries being answered, I would then be in a position to recommend in support of this application from a LHA viewpoint.

Recommendation:

The Highway Authority recommends that further information is provided as outlined above.
