Thank you for consulting Economic Development on the application for a change of use of an existing shop to a restaurant with hot food takeaway. In broad terms we would not have any specific objections to the proposed change of use, we recognise that restaurants add some diversity to the current retail offering in the city centre which can be beneficial to attracting people to the area and increasing dwell time. We would however recognise that the buildings within the city centre were not initially built to house restaurants necessarily and as such careful consideration should be given to the layout, operation and broad impact on neighbouring establishments.
