PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL CONSULTEE COMMENTS FOR A PLANNING APPLICATION.APPLICATION SUMMARY
PLANNING APPLICATION: 25/01080/FUL
ADDRESS: Unit K, Wallsend Industrial Estate, Cattedown Road, Plymouth PL4 0RW
DESCRIPTION: Single storey extension to west to provide loading bay and external stair.
CASE OFFICER: Abbey Edwards (Planning Officer)
Development Management, PCC Strategic Planning & Infrastructure, Floor 2 Ballard House PL1 3BJ.
CONSULTEE: Gary Lester (Transport Officer)
PCC Strategic Planning & Infrastructure, Transport Planning Team, Floor 2 Ballard House PL1 3BJ.
Date: 4th September 2025
COMMENTS:
The Local Highway Authority (LHA) would not wish to raise any objections in principle to the proposed modest single storey extension of 26 sqm, to provide an additional loading-bay and external staircase at the southwest corner of the building (similar to the existing loading-bay on the southeast corner). Access to the proposed new loading-bay would be via an existing private access road that runs along the west side of the building.
The application Design Statement informs that car parking at the site would not be affected by the proposed new loading-bay, with no resultant increase in staff numbers. Although, there would be an expected increase in the number of vehicle movements to and from the site, with potential to double the current output movements. However, traffic movements at the application site have previously been considered as part of the expectation of increasing the output. Moreover, the application site is located on Wallsend Ind Est, near Cattedown Wharf, with direct connections to the strategic road network.
SUMMARY:
The LHA would not wish to raise any objections in principle to the proposed modest single storey extension to provide an additional loading-bay and external staircase. No objections.
